Trip OverviewPlein Air on the water, Deception Pass & Skagit Island.
Join us as we sail into one of the Pacific Northwest’s most dramatic marine environments, designed for those interested in documenting the Salish Sea through live sketching and painting. This is a shared day of exploration and creativity guided by Captain Paul’s photographic eye and experience working in dynamic outdoor environments. We’ll position the boat in carefully chosen locations with strong compositions and changing light, allowing you to work from observation in a relaxed, supportive setting.
The day blends your own artistic practice with the adventure of being on the water, exploring remote island views, enjoying lunch made with locally sourced ingredients, and sharing good company in a remarkable place.

“We had such a great time on the water with Paul.”
Paul creates a fun, learning environment that allows for progress while sailing. You can be as engaged as you want, hands-on, and sail or relax. Paul puts out a great spread of food and drinks and is unendingly cheerful, funny, and full of energy and information about the area we sailed through. We already have our trip planned for next year and are doubling down on the experience with time on the water and travel. We are fortunate to have Paul and his fun Trimeran in our local area. Thank you so much, Paul!
