Trip Overview

Half-Day Sail on Penn Cove

This Sail Is for You If…

You’re visiting Whidbey for the day or have a free morning or afternoon.

You want a memorable adventure to share with friends or family.

You want to experience Penn Cove from the water while still leaving time to explore the island.

Push off from the Captain Whidbey dock and set a course toward the Penn Cove mussel farms. As you settle aboard, watch moon jellies drift beneath the hull while seals surface nearby with curious eyes.

The first half of the sail is spent weaving downwind through the mussel rafts, rich with sea life, as we explore before stopping at the Coupeville Pier to stretch your legs along the historic wharf. Back aboard, enjoy a seasonal bite and refreshment as we sail upwind, feeling our trimaran’s nimble performance on the return to the Inn.

Along the way, Captain Paul shares the geology, history, and local character of these home waters, offering guests a deeper connection to the place and the experience.

Departure times: 10:00 am – 1:30 pm | 2:30 – 6:00 pm

Private charter: $650 for up to four guests
Group fare: $175 per person (two guest minimum)

Washington sales tax applies.

Sailing Itinerary

“I was lucky enough to spend the day with Paul on the Windy, and what an experience it was!”

We enjoyed the amazing views that Penn Cove has to offer, wove our way through the shellfish farms, learned of local marine life, and enjoyed the incredible company and perspective that Paul adds.
The Windy herself is a nimble beauty that effortlessly glides through the water like a knife through butter. We ended the day with some snacks and drinks, smiling the whole way home.
